Her Story

About The Founder

Sufi Raina completed her Masters in Kathak under the tutelage of Dr. Santosh Vyas from Apeejay College of Fine Arts. Trained in Jaipur Gharana, she taught Kathak as a lecturer at KMV College Jalandhar for three years where she also choreographed national level youth festivals. She also holds a Masters in Psychology from Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar. She was invited to England by the North Somerset Music Service as a part of a teachers’ cultural exchange program to perform and teach Kathak in schools and introduce students to Indian classical dance.

She has choreographed many dance performances for stage and national television, and was an assistant choreographer for the movie “Heer Ranjha”. An innovative choreographer, Sufi is also trained in folk dance forms of India. She moved to San Diego in 2011 and has been actively performing on various events organized by Indian and international Associations.

Tej Dance Studio’s mission is to provide an educational environment that fosters the artistic, intellectual and personal growth of its students.
